UIC regulations and permitting

The safe drinking water act mandates that each state must have a UIC program. Many States have been given primary enforcement responsibility (primacy) for their UIC programs. Tribal UIC

In Region 4, EPA retains the authority to implement the UIC program for all classes of injection wells on 6 Federally recognized tribes: Catawba Indian Nation, Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, Seminole Tribe of Florida, Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida and Poarch Band of Creek Indians.
