On October 22, 2019, the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of the Army finalized a rule to repeal the 2015 Clean Water Rule and re-codify the regulatory text defining "waters of the United States" (WOTUS) that existed prior to the 2015 Rule. The final repeal rule became effective on December 23, 2019. The 2019 Rule was replaced by the Navigable Waters Protection Rule. Read the final Navigable Waters Protection Rule.
