Capacity Development Program Implementation and Management

Guidance for State Capacity Development Programs

The Capacity Building Program Management webpage includes guidance documents and resources to develop and implement a state’s Capacity Development program. Memorandums for reporting criteria and new regulations are also found on the webpage.

Capacity Development Trends and Databases

The General Information on National Capacity Development Program Trends webpage includes reports and databases that contain information on national trends for public water systems’ capacity and compliance.

Table Top Workshop Exercise

The purpose of the Table Top Workshop Exercise is to enhance understanding of State Drinking Water Program roles and to emphasize the importance of collaboration between programs to provide a holistic approach to better serve public water systems. Additional background information and the facilitator resources are also found on the webpage.

Program Collaboration Resources and Internet Search Tips

The Metadata Best Practices and Internet Factsheet and Program Collaboration Resource List were developed as the result of a national 2019 Capacity Development and Operator Certification Collaboration workgroup. These documents assist state and federal Capacity Development and Operator Certification programs in facilitating collaboration across programs.

Drinking Water Regulations Resources

  • Drinking Water Regulation Training - These free, self-paced training modules provide training for newer staff on the federal requirements of the National Primary Drinking Water Regulations (NPDWRs), as well as capacity development and operator certification.
  • Drinking Water Rule Quick Reference Guides - These guides provide a simple and straightforward description of the drinking water rule and requirements, including critical deadlines for drinking water systems and states and monitoring requirements.
