Clean and Safe Water in Indian Country

EPA works with tribes to protect, restore, and ensure that water on tribal lands is safe and sustainably managed. This includes drinking water and the aquatic ecosystems that sustain fish, plants, and wildlife as well as economic, recreational, and subsistence activities for tribes.

Clean Water Protections

EPA has announced the availability of over $227 million in Fiscal Year 2026 funding to improve drinking water and wastewater infrastructure for American Indian Tribes and Alaska Native Villages.
