Commodity Inert Ingredients

EPA has developed a list of inert ingredients it has designated as commodity inert ingredients. Registrants and applicants completing the Confidential Statement of Formula (CSF) Form (EPA Form 8570-4) will no longer need to list the commodity inert ingredient suppliers.

EPA intends to update this list periodically.

Data Requirements

The data requirements for pesticide registration include the submission of information on the composition of the pesticide product, including all inert ingredients contained in the pesticide product formulation.

The CSF form is used for reporting the ingredients used in the formulation of a pesticide product. It is completed and submitted with each application for new registration of a pesticide and application for amended registration if the revision involves a formula change.

Box 11 of the CSF supplier name and address is the part of the form in which, for each component, the applicant provides the supplier name and address. In cases where a particular inert ingredient listed on the CSF has multiple suppliers, these suppliers are each listed on the CSF.

Applicants for pesticide product registration or registration amendments wishing to seek National Organic Program labeling, including Organic Materials Review Institute claims, must list their supplier(s) for any listed commodity inert ingredient(s).

See the Agency’s current listing of acceptable pesticide inert ingredients.

Commodity Inert Ingredient List

The complete list of commodity inert ingredients appears below.

  • ** For Yeast if genetically engineered, supplier must be listed.
