Since 2008, EPA has partnered with organizations across the nine Bay Area counties through the San Francisco Bay Water Quality Improvement Fund, using more than $71.4 million in EPA funding to leverage $191 million in additional funds for 59 grant awards that are making a difference by restoring streams, wetlands, and water quality from the Napa River in the North Bay to the salt ponds in the South Bay. In these reports, you will find summaries of the grants, recipients, and results of our regional partnerships.

    EPA is sharing this progress report as part of our continued effort to stimulate smart investments in protecting and restoring SF Bay and its watersheds. The primary purpose of this document is to highlight program investments and related environmental results (2008 - 2014), and to identify lessons learned.

    This update provides some project highlights, and a full list of the grants funded to date. These projects include 69 partners who are contributing an additional $103.6 million to restore wetlands and watersheds, and reduce polluted runoff.

    EPA has supported 28 projects with 37 partners and leveraged almost $12 million to achieve significant environmental results related to wetlands, water quality, and green development. EPA will prepare progress reports and update our website to share project highlights, promote widespread implementation and publicize the availability of funding opportunities.
