Superfund Site Redevelopment Success Stories
EPA’s Superfund Redevelopment Program offers a variety of materials that explore reuse and redevelopment processes and success stories at Superfund sites. Fact sheets, case studies, videos and interactive mapping applications look at how Superfund cleanup and reuse-related activities came about and moved from start to finish. They share perspectives from stakeholders and communities, providing detailed examples of how EPA supported local efforts to safely reuse and redevelop Superfund sites as valued amenities with remedies that remain protective of human health and the environment.
In-Depth Case Studies
SRP’s In-Depth Case Studies explore Superfund reuse projects from start to finish. They describe successful redevelopment strategies, discuss reuse barriers and explain how communities addressed them. The case studies also identify innovative tools and approaches such as green remediation, renewable energy, smart growth and ecological revitalization. Each case study concludes with lessons learned to help other communities interested in reusing Superfund sites.

SRP’s Beneficial Effects Economic Case Studies provide detailed reuse information, covering employment, revenues and other beneficial effects. Each local beneficial effects case study takes a close look at the economic benefits generated by every company at a site, in addition to the economic benefits provided by particular uses, such as alternative energy.
