Best Practices for the Design, Operation, and Maintenance of Green Infrastructure

Sewer Drain

Researchers at EPA are studying best practices for designing and maintaining green infrastructure used for stormwater management efforts to optimize performance and decrease maintenance for long-term success.

Information and Analysis of Soils Used for Green Infrastructure Practices

Many urban areas are experiencing a significant increase in the number of vacant properties. In an effort to revitalize these areas, communities are looking at adding parks, green infrastructure, and urban agriculture.

Experimental Permeable Parking Lot and Rain Gardens in Edison, NJ

Learn how researchers at EPA’s Edison, NJ facility used a parking lot renovation to study different types of permeable pavement and measure their effectiveness for managing urban stormwater runoff. They also designed and constructed rain gardens alongside the parking lot to capture rainwater from the nearby rooftops and the traditional gray) paved surfaces.
