Where to Find Air Quality Smoke Reports - Air Resource Advisor Smoke Outlooks
If your patient lives near an active wildfire and is experiencing smoke, daily Smoke Outlooks are another important source of information that may be available (Figure 12). These outlooks are developed by Air Resource Advisors, often called ARAs. Air Resource Advisors are deployed to active wildfires through the Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program. Air Resource Advisors assist with understanding and predicting smoke impacts on the public and fire personnel. They analyze, summarize, and communicate these impacts to incident teams, air quality and public health agencies, and the public.
Smoke Outlooks provide past, current, and forecast PM2.5 air quality using the AQI. The outlooks also include other important information about the fire and exposure reduction strategies. The Smoke Outlooks prominently link to state, local, and Tribal air agencies’ smoke messages.
Current Smoke Outlooks are available at https://outlooks.wildlandfiresmoke.net/outlook . Note that not every wildfire will have an Air Resource Advisor.
