Growing New Jobs With Green Infrastructure

The adoption of green infrastructure practices to manage urban stormwater runoff is a growing trend in communities across the country, but operating and maintaining a network of green infrastructure assets is no easy task; it requires the expertise and labor of a skilled workforce. In this webcast, Sara Lamback with Jobs For the Future and Stacy Passaro with the National Green Infrastructure Certification Program will examine the current state of the green infrastructure workforce, exploring where the jobs are, what compensation they offer, and what level of education they require. In addition, speakers will project the growth of green infrastructure jobs across the water sector and highlight the skills and credentials that will allow workers to capitalize on new green infrastructure job opportunities.

Speakers

Sara Lamback is a senior program manager in Jobs for the Future's Building Economic Opportunity Group, providing project management, labor market analysis, and other technical support on projects that help low-income adults train for and succeed in jobs with career advancement potential. Ms. Lamback has more than ten years of experience in education and workforce development. She has worked as a practitioner, researcher, and educational program evaluator. Ms. Lamback earned her master of education in education policy and management from Harvard Graduate School of Education; she has a bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University.

Stacy Passaro, P.E. has been working on water quality improvement projects for the last 25 years. She received her BS degree from Clarkson University in Civil and Environmental Engineering and went on to get her Master of Engineering degree from Johns Hopkins University. In addition, she is a licensed professional engineer. Her career has had a focus on operational and maintenance support for a wide variety of water quality infrastructure. She is the Program Manager for the development of the National Green Infrastructure Certification Program.
