Is There Any Documentation Available for Installing MOVES on Linux?
MOVES is designed for the Windows operating system, and EPA tests it only on Windows.
We expect MOVES can be used on Linux systems running a Windows 10 emulator. In addition, we know that individual skilled users have converted versions of MOVES to run on other operating systems including iOS and Linux. However, the EPA does not provide user support for such efforts or guarantee that MOVES will run without errors--some of which may be hard to detect.
A document presented at the June 15, 2011 EPA MOVES2010a workshop named “Installing and Running MOVES on Linux,” is available, but the information it provides is out of date since MOVES and the software underlying MOVES have changed. For example, MOVES3 uses MariaDB instead of MySQL and incorporates code in Go and Fortran as well as Java.
