Risk Management Program (RMP) Rule

The Risk Management Program (RMP) Rule implements Section 112(r) of the 1990 Clean Air Act amendments. RMP requires facilities that use extremely hazardous substances to develop a Risk Management Plan. These plans must be revised and resubmitted to EPA every five years.

RMP Guidance Updates

EPA updated Chapters 8 and 11 of the General Risk Management Program Guidance to reflect regulatory changes since 2017. 

Final RMP Reconsideration Rule

On November 20, 2019, EPA signed the Risk Management Program Reconsideration final rule. For more information, please see: Final Risk Management Program (RMP) Reconsideration Rule.

RMP Delay Rule Vacatur

On August 17, 2018, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit Court issued its decision vacating a June 2017 EPA rulemaking. For more information, please see: Risk Management Plan (RMP) Delay Rule Vacatur.
