Wetlands Regional Monitoring Program (WRMP)
Return to: Program Priorities | About the Program
Why is this a San Francisco Bay Program Priority?

Stressors such as sea level rise, decreased sediment supply, and continued development erode existing tidal wetlands. Reliable long-term data on the status and trends of San Francisco Bay’s tidal marshes is needed for wetland managers to effectively plan and implement restoration projects that respond to these challenges.
Since 2010, EPA, in partnership with other federal, state, and local agencies, and the restoration community at large, developed the Wetlands Regional Monitoring Program (WRMP) to collect, analyze, and distribute data on the health of tidal wetlands in the San Francisco Bay. The WRMP includes a network of monitoring sites, the establishment of a science framework for data collection, and an open platform for sharing the data.
The WRMP will provide tidal marsh restoration planners, designers, funders, and regulators cost-effective data on key tidal marsh indicators to better prioritize restoration actions needed to maintain current marsh acreage.
