What is a listserv?

A listserv is an Internet feature whereby one posts a message that is received via email by all listserv members. They can respond to you or to the entire listserv membership. The following email commands can be used to handle most end-user functions, instead of the web interface. More information on email commands is available at http://lunar.lyris.com/help/lm_help//11.3/ Browse to the "Email Commands" section in the navigation bar on the left side.

What kinds of things can you put on a listserv?

You can post text-only emails about anything related to AQUATOX. You can post:

  • Questions
  • Opinions
  • Announcements
  • Requests
  • Things to share

For security reasons the listserv rejects all postings with attachments to emails.

How do you join the listserv?

Subscribe to AQUATOXinfo via email. Send an email to lyris@lists.epa.gov, leaving the "Subject:" field blank and putting "subscribe AQUATOXinfo firstname lastname" in the body of the text. Once you have subscribed, you will receive a welcome message confirming your membership.

To unsubscribe from a list, send an email message to leave-aquatoxinfo@lists.epa.gov

How do you post a message?

Messages are sent by email to AQUATOXinfo@lists.epa.gov. The postings are then sent out as email messages to every member of the AQUATOXinfo listserv.

How can I see the email listings from previous postings?

If you are a member of a mailing list, you can search past messages of the mailing list, and the messages that match your search specification will be sent back to you via email.
Send email to listmanager@lists.epa.gov
In the body of the message, use the command
search aquatoxinfo search words

Replace search words with the words you are searching for. ListManager will search for messages which contain any of the given search words. If multiple messages match your search, the search results will be organized so that the messages that matched more of your search terms appear at the top, and messages with equivalent search scores are organized with the newest messages first. If you are not sure of the precise form of the word you may use the wild card “*” to find variations (e.g. “citation*" will find “citation” as well as “citations”).

Contacting List Owners

Send email to owner-aquatoxinfo@lists.epa.gov
Mail sent to this address will be distributed to the owners of a mailing list.
