Pre-Incident Planning for Waste Management Poster and Brochure

The Pre-Incident Planning for Waste Management poster and brochure are documents that explain and visualize the importance of preparing for incident waste in advance of catastrophic incidents, regardless of the hazard. The poster and brochure illustrate that catastrophic incidents can generate large amounts and varieties of materials and wastes. Taking small but significant steps prior to a disaster with regard to debris management can have a big impact on the overall response.

The poster quantifies the magnitude of two specific, real-life incidents and lists eight steps that emergency planners can take to prepare for materials and wastes in advance. In addition to what the poster contains, the brochure also shows the four-step planning process to help communities prepare for managing materials and wastes from a disaster and explains ways that planning helps.
