Mississippi River/Gulf of Mexico Hypoxia Task Force

Task Force Members

The Mississippi River/Gulf of Mexico Watershed Nutrient Task Force (Hypoxia Task Force or Task Force) includes federal and state agencies and the tribes. Federal agencies include program funding and technical tools to both lead federal efforts and support state and tribal efforts to reduce nitrogen and phosphorus pollution in the Mississippi/Atchafalaya River Basin (MARB) and the Gulf of Mexico.  State representatives are from one of the environmental, agricultural, or natural resource management state agencies, with ten member states along the mainstem of the Mississippi River and two member states along the mainstem of the Ohio River. The tribes in the Mississippi River Basin parts of the 12 member state areas are represented by the National Tribal Water Council. The role of the Task Force is to provide executive level direction and support for coordinating the actions of participating organizations working on nutrient management within the MARB. The Task Force has designated members of a Coordinating Committee (CC) that includes three Sub-basin Committees and representatives of sister state and federal agencies.

The CC facilitates communications, work group coordination, and makes recommendations to the Task Force for action.
