Public Hearing on Wisconsin's Coal Combustion Residuals Permit Program
On September 10, 2026, EPA announced a proposal to approve the application submitted by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to allow the Wisconsin coal combustion residuals permit program to operate in lieu of the federal CCR program for the disposal of CCR in landfills. In addition to accepting written comments, EPA will hold a virtual public hearing. The public hearing will provide the opportunity to present information, comments, or views concerning EPA's proposal.

General Information
EPA will hold an online public hearing about this proposal on November 9, 2026. The hearing will convene at 3:00 p.m. Central Time and conclude at 6:00 p.m.
Oral testimony will be limited to five minutes for each person. EPA may ask clarifying questions during the oral presentations but will not respond formally during the hearing to any comments or information presented at the hearing. A transcript of the hearing will be included in the docket for this action. Speakers may provide oral testimony in person or online.
EPA will accept written public comments through Regulations.gov until the close of the comment period on this action.
Note: Do not present or submit at the hearing any information you consider to be confidential business information or other information whose disclosure is restricted by statute.
