Feed It Onward Branding Guidelines

For Food Distributors, Grocery Stores, Farmers, Youth Groups, and Sports Organizations as Authorized by EPA *

Purpose of these Guidelines

These Branding Guidelines provide instructions, limitations and specifications related to the use of the Feed It Onward name and Feed It Onward icons to authorized licensees.

About the Feed It Onward Initiative

Feed It Onward is a public education initiative from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that helps American families reduce food waste, save money, and support their communities. This initiative highlights the leadership of state, local, private, and nonprofit partners who are already doing meaningful work.

EPA works with its partners to identify food waste solutions. A goal of this initiative is to recognize partners’ efforts to reduce food waste, save money, support communities and offer tools that spur these efforts. Participation in the Feed It Onward initiative is voluntary.

This effort is part of EPA’s contribution to America 250, the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States, recognizing efforts to help strengthen families and communities through practical action.

About the Feed It Onward icons

The standard Feed It Onward icon contains a plate, a fork and knife on the right, the words “U.S. EPA FEED IT ONWARD” in the center of the plate, and the text “No Waste. Just Food.” around the lower rim of the plate.

This initiative is represented by the standard Feed It Onward icon and the special America 250 version, as provided above. EPA claims ownership rights over the “Feed It Onward” name, the Feed It Onward icon, and the Feed It Onward 250 icon.

The standard Feed It Onward icon contains a plate, a fork and knife on the right, the words “U.S. EPA FEED IT ONWARD” in the center of the plate, and the text “No Waste. Just Food.” around the lower rim of the plate.

The Feed It Onward 250 icon includes a separate and distinct “250” mark that is incorporated into the Feed It Onward icon and used by EPA with the permission of America 250.org. The “250” mark will remain as part of the Feed It Onward icon through July 2026, at which time Feed It Onward will revert to the standard version, without the “250” mark.

Who can use the Feed It Onward icons
