Project Description
The Upper Middle Fork Pump Station project is the second phase of the Sanitary Sewer Discharge Plan portion of the Integrated Overflow Abatement Plan Project. It includes (1) replacement of the existing Upper Middle Fork Pump Station with a new efficient 30 million gallons per day (MGD) Pump Station, (2) installation of a relief interceptor to convey flows in excess of the current interceptor capacity, (3) installation of a diversion gate, and (4) extension of 30-inch force main from the pump station site to the Hikes Lane Interceptor. The purpose of the project is to control combined sewer overflows and mitigate sanitary sewer overflows and other unauthorized discharges from the Metropolitan Sewer District’s sewerage system. The project will improve water quality in Beargrass Creek within Jefferson County and the Ohio River within and downstream from Jefferson County.
