Replenish Big Bear
Population Served by Project: 18,000
Project Description
Replenish Big Bear is a multi-benefit program that will help protect Big Bear Valley and the Santa Ana Watershed from the impacts of climate change by recovering a local water resource currently discharged outside of the watershed. The program will modernize its wastewater treatment facility and groundwater recharge facilities. Replenish Big Bear will implement high recovery brine minimization technology to produce up to 2,210 acre foot per year of purified water that will be discharged to Big Bear Lake tributaries. This program will provide a variety of environmental, economic, and recreational benefits to the Valley, including a substantial increase in water supply, local wildlife protection, and drought mitigation.
