TSCA Occupational Exposure Workshops
Under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), EPA is required to evaluate the risks posed to workers in its risk evaluations and risk assessments. In an effort to improve the TSCA occupational exposure assessment process, which evaluates risks posed to workers, EPA’s Existing Chemicals Program hosts a workshop series to seek input on multiple topics related to TSCA occupational exposure assessment.

May 14 - 16, 2024 Workshop
The May 2024 workshop focused on data and modeling issues. These were identified as topics of significant interest by participants of the January 2023 workshop. This event included presentations from EPA staff on data needs, the exposure assessment process, test orders, models and model parameterization, and approaches associated with particulates. External participants presented on databases, ongoing task force efforts, consideration of similar exposure groups, modeling and measurement issues, and data/approaches for addressing particulate exposures.

October 3 - 4, 2023 Workshop
The October 2023 workshop focused on defining conditions of use and occupational exposure scenarios. Presentations included background information on conditions of use and occupational exposure scenarios, how occupational exposure scenarios are developed, examples for perchloroethylene and 1,2-dichloroethane and a variety of stakeholder perspectives. Materials associated with this meeting are available in the table below.

January 12, 2023 Workshop
This January 2023 workshop focused on ways to initiate a strategy to improve the data, approaches, and processes EPA uses to conduct occupational exposure assessment under TSCA. EPA also sought input on the development of approaches to enable broader collaboration on exposure issues such as modeling inputs, data development and sampling strategies. Materials associated with this meeting are available in the table below.
