Detailed Project Information
Description: In an effort to prevent marine debris at a specific source, STASH BOAT TRASH targets recreational boaters and charter captains throughout Georgia's coastal area. This regional project distributes washable/reusable messaged mesh draw string bags to the boating community for onboard trash containment. Boots on the ground visits to marinas, boat ramps, boating clubs, boat shows, fishing tournaments and boater gathering spots provide educational, partnership and distribution opportunities.
Project Partners: Georgia Department of Natural Resources Coastal Resources Division, UGA Marine Extension & Georgia Sea Grant, Wells Fargo
Current Project Outcomes: Not specified.
Long-Term Project Outcomes: Because boaters are more likely to use free STASH BOAT TRASH bags versus purchasing one on their own, we expect to directly reduce marine debris stemming from boat trash.
