Coal Mine Methane – What EPA is Doing
Since 1994, EPA's Coalbed Methane Outreach Program (CMOP) has worked cooperatively with the U.S. coal mining industry to reduce methane emissions from coal operations (CMM). By helping to identify and implement methods to recover and use CMM, instead of emitting it into the atmosphere, CMOP has played a key role in domestic efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and address global climate change.
