Water Research Grants

EPA funds water research grants to develop and support the science and tools necessary to develop sustainable solutions to 21st century water resource problems, ensuring water quality and availability in order to protect human and ecosystem health.
All forms necessary for completing an application are referenced in the RFA and available to download from the Funding Opportunities: How to Apply and Required Forms page.
Notice of Intent
The Notice of Intent information is preliminary, is for informational purposes, is subject to change, and applicants must still review the RFA and respond to the content and comply with the requirements described in the RFA when its issued.
Resilience of Coastal Ecosystems - Current and Future Stressors and Effective Management Strategies
This RFA will solicit research on how increasing stressors impact coastal ecological resilience, the effectiveness of management strategies on resilience, and the socio-economic drivers for motivating coastal ecological protection and restoration. - Opening Soon
National Priorities: Evaluation of Antimicrobial Resistance in Wastewater and Sewage Sludge Treatment and Its Impact to the Environment
This RFA will solicit research on selection and removal efficiency of antibiotic resistant bacteria (ARB) and antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in wastewater treatment plants. It will also request research on the relative significance of wastewater effluent as a source of ARB and ARGs in receiving waters. - Opening Soon
