Documentation

January 2021 version: The 2017 NEI, last released in April 2020, has been updated to include a revised point inventory that corrects airport emissions and incorporates updates to some facilities in several states. All other data category components of the 2017 NEI are unchanged from the April 2020 release: nonpoint (including biogenics, commercial marine vessels, and rail line emissions), onroad mobile, nonroad mobile, and events (wildfires and prescribed burning emissions). All 2017 NEI data products impacted by changes to the point inventory have been updated, including point inventory summaries, All Sectors, and Tier summaries, as well as the associated data query tools. An accompanying interactive 2017 NEI Report is also being released with this update. This is the final public release of the 2017 NEI.

Data Queries

Sector Summaries - Criteria and Hazardous Air Pollutants by 60 EIS emission sectors

The following queries allow for generating custom data files and the results will be displayed on-screen with various options to download.    The queries are used to generate subset summaries of either Sector or Tier aggregations

*To use the multiple selection boxes hold CTRL and click on options you would like to include in your query. To select multiples in order, click your first option then hold SHIFT + click the last selection to highlight everything in between. To deselect options use the same method as with selecting. Please allow time for large queries to process (i.e. county aggregated for all pollutants, all regions, selected sector).

National / State / County or Tribe Geographic Aggregation
Pollutant Sector

*Query results will be displayed below.  CAP emissions are in short tons.

Tier 1 Summaries - Criteria Air Pollutants only by 14 major tiers

National / State / County or Tribe Geographic Aggregation
Pollutant Tier 1 Category

*Query results will be displayed below.  CAP emissions are in short tons.

Facility Mapping

The facility query provides a map of facilities for a selected state along with tabular data for the selected pollutant(s).  Please note that the map only displays if there are less than 25 pollutants selected.  If more than 25 pollutants are selected then only the tabular data will be displayed.
