CPRG Selected Applications by Sector - Transportation

The transportation sector includes emissions from both on-road and non-road sources (such as construction, agricultural, and lawn and garden equipment).

  • As of 2022, transportation produced the largest share of U.S. greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, or 28% of the total. 
  • The majority of transportation emissions result from on-road vehicles, or 81% of the total.

About Climate Pollution Reduction Grants

Authorized under the Inflation Reduction Act, EPA’s Climate Pollution Reduction Grants program provides nearly $5 billion in grants for states, local governments, Tribes, and territories to develop and implement ambitious plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other harmful air pollution and to benefit low income and disadvantaged communities.
