Tribal Tool Collections

Tribal Nations Tools Website

Tribal Nations Tools Website from data.gov contains links to web-based tools, training, and guidance to help understand, analyze, and assess the vulnerabilities and resilience of Tribal Nations to climate variability, global climate change, and compounding stressors. Tools include Guidance for Using Traditional Knowledges, Tribal Resilience Resource Guide, as well as other unique tools developed by Tribes and partners to analyze and address climate change impacts in an appropriate cultural and place-based context.

Tribal-FERST

Tribal-Focused Environmental Risk and Sustainability Tool (Tribal-FERST) Resource pages include a variety of resources, including EPA tools, separated by media. The links are further separated into different categories based on resource type, including: EnviroAtlas Maps, Web-Based GIS Tools, Guidance Documents, Databases for Environmental Information, Developed Exposure Models, and Environmental Measurement Methods.

EPA Tools

Science Models and Research Tools Search (SMaRT Search)

SMaRT Search provides an inventory of all freely available models, tools, and databases from EPA's Office of Research and Development. Using SMaRT Search, you can find all inventory by environmental media, or narrow your search for a specific focus area, such as drinking water, algal blooms, stormwater, water reuse, or PFAS.

Decision Analysis for a Sustainable Environment, Economy & Society

The Decision Analysis for a Sustainable Environment, Economy & Society (DASEES) tool is a downloadable application for structured decision making. It guides users through a five-step process to identify solutions that balance social, economic, and environmental factors. Along the way, it helps users understand the connecting relationships between these factors, define shared objectives, and identify consequences and tradeoffs of alternative options. DASEES organizes the information in an easy-to-understand format for the evaluation of options and is applicable to any type or scope of decision or problem.

EnviroAtlas

EnviroAtlas provides geospatial data, easy-to-use tools, and other resources related to ecosystem services, their chemical and non-chemical stressors, and human health. Use EnviroAtlas to explore maps that identify sources of pollution in your Tribal Nation community and the surrounding area. These maps do not contain every map layer that may be important to a Tribal Nation community. To help supplement this information, you may want to check with the Tribal Nation administration, health team, and cultural offices for data that could be added to the maps for a more complete picture of your community’s conditions or protected areas. If you add in Tribal Nation specific confidential information, it can be saved under your username and password.

EcoBox

EPA’s Ecological Risk Assessment ToolBox (EPA EcoBox) is a group of tools designed to assist with assessing ecological risk. EPA EcoBox provides links to guidance documents, databases, models, reference materials, and other related resources, organized according to six topic areas of interest to ecological risk assessors.

Environmental Resilience Tools Wizard

The Environmental Resilience Tools Wizard is designed for use by state, local, and Tribal emergency managers who need to address environmental concerns and by state, local, and Tribal environmental or health agencies who need to address disaster resilience in their work. It may also be of interest to cities, counties, or Tribes implementing resilience or hazard mitigation plans, researchers, drinking water and wastewater utilities, and community or environmental organizations.
