Community Benefits Agreement Training

Community benefits agreement (CBA) training seeks to help participants learn the basics of CBAs, develop a shared language for communicating community concerns, and engage in dialogue around lessons learned from other similar CBA processes.  Below are the training CBA training materials.

Additional Community Resources

The Community Action Roadmap: Resources page contains a table that has resources on additional subjects that may be of interest to near-port communities including:

  • Community Action for a Renewed Environment (CARE) Roadmap
  • Strategies for advancing Smart Growth and equitable development;
  • Developing effective coalitions;
  • Collaborative problem-solving;
  • Local use planning; 
  • Public participation; and

Goods Movement Strategies for Communities tool – The New Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) developed this tool to facilitate discussions on trucking issues. The tool identifies and clarifies the complex issues involved with moving goods by truck and offers strategies that may help address community concerns while preserving the critical function of trucks in our economy.

Capacity Building Through Effective Meaningful Engagement A TOOL FOR LOCAL AND STATE GOVERNMENTS (pdf) (3.18 MB, 9/21/23, EPA 440B23001) – This EPA tool aims to help local and state government officials create or expand their plan for engaging meaningfully with the communities most affected by their actions.

The Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Centers (TCTACs) Program – EPA’s new TCTACs provide training and other assistance to build capacity for navigating federal grant application systems, developing strong grant proposals, and effectively managing grant funding.
