Stakeholder Process for Natural Gas and Petroleum Systems in the 1990-2018 Inventory

It is EPA's standard process to update the Inventory of U.S. Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Sinks (GHG Inventory) when relevant new and improved data are available.

EPA held stakeholder webinars and meetings on updates under consideration for the 1990-2018 GHG Inventory (released in 2020). Information for each webinar and meeting is posted here.

November 7, 2019 Workshop

On November 7, 2019, EPA held a stakeholder workshop on EPA’s GHG data for natural gas and petroleum systems from the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program (GHGRP) and GHG Inventory. The workshop took place in Pittsburgh, PA.

At the workshop, EPA presented on GHGRP data, and on existing GHG Inventory methods and updates under consideration based on previous stakeholder comments and data from the GHGRP and external studies.

Stakeholders also presented new data and information relevant to estimating GHG emissions from natural gas systems and petroleum systems.

September 12, 2019 Webinar

On September 12, 2019, EPA held a stakeholder webinar focusing on offshore oil and gas production updates under consideration for the 1990-2018 GHG Inventory.
