Summary Data

EPA systematically collects emissions data for the Acid Rain Program, Cross-State Air Pollution Rule (CSAPR), CSAPR Update, Revised CSAPR Update, Good Neighbor Plan, and the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS). Transparency and data availability are a hallmark of these programs, and a cornerstone of their success. EPA provides an array of reports, resources, and tools, to access and understand these data and environmental results of emission reductions at varying levels of detail.

EPA also collects data from several voluntary partnership programs. EPA Green Power Partners submit annual green power use information that is available at both aggregated and detailed individual levels. Electric utility partners in EPA’s SF6 Emission Reduction Partnership for Electric Power Systems submit summary information on sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) emissions.

Resources

Tools

  • Power Sector Programs Progress Report:  This report provides an overview of the progress of the Clean Air Markets Programs and the combined effects of these programs. Those effects include trends in power sector emissions of SO2, NOX,  and mercury, as well as data on ozone and fine particles (PM2.5), air quality, atmospheric deposition of sulfur and nitrogen, and ecological response to emissions reductions.
  • Power Plant Emission Reductions: a summary overview of emission trends in the power sector since 1990.
  • Latest Emission Comparisons & Pollution Controls: analytic summaries including quarterly, ozone season, and annual data comparing emissions, emission rates, and heat input from power plants between the current and previous year; long term trends of emissions and emission rates from power plants; coal-fired power plant characteristics; and changes in control technologies at coal-fired units.
  • Green Power Partnership Data: a variety of tools that summarize data gathered through EPA's Green Power Partnership, including green power usage from our partners, resource trends, and a project map of renewable energy projects.
  • EPS Partnership Accomplishments: summary information on SF6 emissions reduction accomplishments of EPA's SF6 Emission Reduction Partnership for Electric Power Systems. Includes SF6 emission and nameplate capacity trends for participating electric power systems since 1999.
