    The United States and the Navajo Nation entered into a settlement agreement on April 8, 2015 called the Phase 1 Settlement Agreement to investigate 16 priority mines.

    The United States and the Navajo Nation entered into a trust agreement which provides for a trustee, Sadie Hoskie, to conduct removal site evaluations at the 16 priority abandoned uranium mines listed in the Phase 1 Settlement Agreement.

    The United States and the Navajo Nation entered into a settlement agreement on July 13, 2016 called the Phase 2 Settlement Agreement to clean up as necessary the 16 priority mines in the Phase 1 settlement, conduct Removal Site Evaluations at 30 abandoned uranium mines, and conduct two water studies at mines. Addendum 1 includes information about the 13 AUMs that will be assessed in the Western AUM Region and the Claim 28 water study.
