Integrated Planning Model (IPM) Run Files for Supporting Scenarios

Download IPM run files for the scenarios supporting development of the Clean Power Plan proposal using the links in the table below. Click on the IPM run name in the first column of the table below to download a file. The files are posted in one of two formats, a zipped archive or an excel spreadsheet, and contain the following:

  • More detailed information on the modeling framework, specific scenarios, assumptions, and other important details of the analysis can be found in the Summary of IPM Analysis of Individual Building Blocks for 111(d).

  • Detailed IPM input and output files (i.e., .DAT, System Summary Report, .RPE, .CAR, and TAC files) for the listed runs. Guide to IPM Output Files: EPA Base Case v.5.13 (pdf) (224.15 KB, July, 2015) .

IPM Run Name IPM Run Description
NGCC 65% with Intra-Region Rebalancing (zip) (98.64 MB) Existing NGCC fleet constrained to operate at an average capacity factor of 65%. Increases in NGCC utilization from base case levels offset 1:1 with a decrease in utilization from existing coal steam, IGCC, or oil/gas steam boilers >25 MW in the same region.
NGCC 70% with Intra-Region Rebalancing (zip) (98.62 MB) Existing NGCC fleet constrained to operate at an average capacity factor of 70%. Increases in NGCC utilization from base case levels must be offset 1:1 with a decrease in utilization from existing coal steam, IGCC, or oil/gas steam boilers >25 MW in the same region.
NGCC 70% with Intra-State Rebalancing (zip) (97.92 MB) Existing NGCC fleet constrained to operate at an average capacity factor of 70%. Increases in NGCC utilization from base case levels offset 1:1 with a decrease in utilization from existing coal steam, IGCC, or oil/gas steam boilers >25 MW in the same state.
NGCC 75% with Intra-Region Rebalancing (zip) (98.67 MB) Existing NGCC fleet constrained to operate at an average capacity factor of 75%. Increases in NGCC utilization from base case levels offset 1:1 with a decrease in utilization from existing coal steam, IGCC, or oil/gas steam boilers >25 MW in the same region.
Re-Dispatch with Coal Cost of $10 per tonne CO2 (zip) (98.44 MB) $10/tonne CO2 applied to existing coal steam, IGCC, and oil/gas steam boilers > 25 MW. Decreases in utilization from the affected EGUs offset 1:1 with an increase in utilization from existing NGCC EGUs in the same state.
Re-Dispatch with Coal Cost of $15 per tonne CO2 (zip) (98.53 MB) $15/tonne CO2 applied to existing coal steam, IGCC, and oil/gas steam boilers > 25 MW. Decreases in utilization from the affected EGUs offset 1:1 with an increase in utilization from existing NGCC EGUs in the same state.
Re-Dispatch with Coal Cost of $20 per tonne CO2 (zip) (98.52 MB) $20/tonne CO2 applied to existing coal steam, IGCC, and oil/gas steam boilers > 25 MW. Decreases in utilization from the affected EGUs offset 1:1 with an increase in utilization from existing NGCC EGUs in the same state.
Re-Dispatch with Coal Cost of $25 per tonne CO2 (zip) (98.48 MB) $25/tonne CO2 applied to existing coal steam, IGCC, and oil/gas steam boilers > 25 MW. Decreases in utilization from the affected EGUs offset 1:1 with an increase in utilization from existing NGCC EGUs in the same state.
Re-Dispatch with Coal Cost of $30 per tonne CO2 (zip) (108.99 MB) $30/tonne CO2 applied to existing coal steam, IGCC, and oil/gas steam boilers > 25 MW. Decreases in utilization from the affected EGUs offset 1:1 with an increase in utilization from existing NGCC EGUs in the same state.
