Technical Assistance Webinar Series: Strengthening CWA-NPDES Permit Compliance to Protect Surface Waters
This technical assistance webinar series provides practical compliance guidance to help Clean Water Act (CWA) – National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permittees understand permit conditions, meet monitoring and reporting requirements, implement corrective actions, and sustain consistent, lawful discharges. By strengthening compliance, facilities help protect surface water quality and reduce risks to human health and the environment.
Who Should Attend: The webinar series is designed for those responsible for achieving and demonstrating NPDES compliance, including:
- POTW operators/managers (including pretreatment)
- Industrial dischargers and EHS/compliance staff
- MS4/stormwater program managers and inspectors
- Tribal, state, and local permitting/compliance staff
- Consultants/technical assistance providers, city/utility managers, and others managing wastewater or stormwater for compliant discharge
Topics (compliance focused):
- Permit limits/conditions; sampling, monitoring, and QA/QC (DMRs/NetDMR)
- Corrective actions; bypass and SSO prevention/reporting
- Pretreatment/FOG; collection system O&M and CMOM
- Lagoons, algae control, solids management; biosolids handling/disposal
- Stormwater (industrial, construction, MS4): SWPPPs and inspections
- Inspection readiness, recordkeeping, internal audits; coordination with permitting authorities and permit modifications

Webinars are offered quarterly and typically 1.5 hours in length. Sessions are virtual and free to attend, bur attendance capacity is set to the first 1,000 people who log in to the webinar. Certificates and Continuing Education for attending live webinars: Attendees will receive a Certificate of Attendance via email approximately two weeks after the webinar. Please check your junk or spam folder if you do not receive the certificate. For continuing education credits, confirm eligibility with your state’s certification authority. EPA does not guarantee credits, as requirements vary by state. Some certification authorities require advanced notice or pre-approval to grant credit.
